ARTIST DISCUSSION & OPENING RECEPTION: TECHNOLOGIES OF RELATION
February 21st, Saturday, 4PM & 5:30PM
Celebrate the opening of MASS MoCA’s new exhibition—Technologies of Relation—in which artists examine how we relate to each other, to machines, and to our future. These creators see the complexity of our relationships to the digital, avoiding the binary views that frame technology as good or bad, as tool or monster, and choose to instead embrace how technology can both connect us and further marginalize and oppress us at the same time. In this conversation, moderated by MASS MoCA Director of Curatorial Affairs, Susan Cross, the artists will discuss the current state of technology, considering how we can rethink our relationships to our devices, to computing, and to artificial intelligence, while bringing increased ethics and agency into the digital landscape. Discussion: $10 Nonmembers, Free for members; Reception: $20 Nonmembers, Free for members.
MASS MoCA. 1040 MASS MoCA Way. North Adams MA. 413.662.2111.

MOMIX: BOTANICA SEASON 2
February 21st, Saturday, 7:30PM
February 22nd, Sunday, 2PM
Far more than a revival, this second chapter re-germinates MOMIX’s 2008 hit Botanica with new surprises, updated visual projections, and interactive lighting that transform the stage into a living terrarium. Dancers become humming wasps, glowing marigolds, and treetop columns, making visible the same energy that drives the natural world. Botanica Season 2 fuses athletic dance, visual illusion, and natural storytelling to leave audiences “with a little less gravity in their step”—as Artistic Director Moses Pendleton puts it—proof that photosynthesis can happen in the immersive world of a dark theater. $66 - $84.
Warner Theatre. 68 Main Street. Torrington CT. 860.439.7180.
