Contra-Tiempo is a bold, multi-lingual Los Angeles-based company that works to create communities where all people are awakened to a sense of themselves as artists and social change agents who move through the world with compassion, confidence and joy. This performance features an excerpt from their full-length work ¡azúcar!, which brings the vibrations of Cuban musician Celia Cruz. This courageous work, a culmination of the groups two-week residency at Jacob’s Pillow Lab, is rooted in Afro-Latine movement languages, the sacred feminine, personal narratives of food, labor, community, and explorations of ‘familying’ and healing as practices. AN INCONVENIENT COP: THE COMPLEXITIES OF MODERN POLICING

Critically acclaimed author Edwin Raymond, former NYPD lieutenant, will discuss and sign copies of his book, An Inconvenient Cop: My Fight to Change Policing in America. As the highest-ranking whistleblower in NYPD history, Raymond is able to give an insider’s look at the complexities of modern policing, the urgent need for reform and a vision of radical hope. Hosted by the American Mural Project, Raymond is depicted prominently in his former role as a police officer in AMP’s mural of workers and will be joined by the mural artist Ellen Griesedieck. Free.
