The Day Iceland Stood Still
The Millerton Moviehouse will hold a special Q&A with Emmy Award winning filmmaker Pamela Hogan; producer Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdotrir; Mainstreet magazine principal Thorunn Kristjansdottir, and writer, producer and director Anne Makepeace on October 11th following a screening of The Day Iceland Stood Still.
The film depicts the day 50 years ago when 90 percent of Icelandic women simply stopped working for the day and men scrambled to fulfill their tasks. The film chronicles the efforts of Iceland’s feminist collective, the Red Stockings, their quest for equality and the impact they had on the political landscape of their country and the world.
