SONG AND DANCE: CELEBRATION OF WOMEN IN THE BERKSHIRES

Highlighting Berkshire women in the Arts, this show features performances by Wanda Houston, Mary Ann Palermo, Gina Coleman, Olga Dunn, and The All-Star Women’s Band. These local standouts will be joined by more of the region’s extraordinary female heroes in the art, business, social, and medical communities. The proceeds will be donated in part to several non-profit organizations, including The Elizabeth Freeman Center that helps women and children in need. $30.

BOOK TALK: THE CRITIC’S DAUGHTER

The Critic’s Daughter, just published, is an unflinching account of loss and grief and a wrenching story about the impact of divorce. Priscilla Gilman, also the author of memoir The Anti-Romantic Child and a former professor of English literature at Yale University and Vassar College, presents an exquisitely rendered portrait of a unique father-daughter relationship and a moving memoir of family and identity. EXPLORING THE CULTURE OF SPAIN: A WHIRLWIND TOUR

Interactions and struggles between Romans, Jews, Muslims, Roma, and Catholics have created a region rooted in deep tradition as it climbs into dizzying heights of modernity. Dr. Meri Clark, Fulbright Scholar and History Professor, will take you on a whirlwind tour of the Andalusian region, talking about everything from Islamic architecture and Catholic cathedrals to bullfighters and flamenco. $10 - 15.

BAKING FOR PASSOVER

Chef David Wurth is returning to HGS Home Chef, this time with a special baking class for Passover. This Jewish holiday, commemorating the exodus from Egypt, is celebrated with special foods at the Seder. While certain ingredients are prohibited at this meal, you won’t miss them at all with David’s creative take on three desserts: Coconut Macaroons, Flourless Chocolate Spice Cake, and Walnut Orange Cake. David’s emphasis on flavor and simple technique will be brought for this demonstration baking class, that you can then bring home with you. $110.
