Filson at Privet House

A visit to New Preston, CT, a charming little hamlet at the end of Lake Waramaug, is like stepping back decades to enjoy a more casual shopping experience. Rather than the canned music and eerie air piped through shopping malls, here one moves between vintage buildings to browse boutique stores offering a variety of upscale merchandise.

Privet House, an outstanding retailer in this enclave of stellar stores, bills itself as ‘An Emporium of Home Goods, Antiques and Curiosities.’ Here, within a visually striking environment, proprietors Richard Lambertson and Suzanne Cassano pride themselves in their collection of antiques, vintage finds and decorative wares, presented along with perfumed candles and Santa Maria Novella bath and body products.

And now Privet Lives has partnered with Filson for a pop-up shop in its New Preston space through November 14th. Seattle-based Filson, a menswear outfitter for outdoor enthusiasts - and for the well-heeled design-conscious weekend warrior - is known for quality and durability. During the pop-up show its apparel, accessories and watches will all be available
.
The company, established in 1897 as C.C. Filson’s Pioneer Alaska Clothing and Blanket Manufacturers, originally met the needs of prospectors passing through Seattle on their way to the Klondike Gold Rush. In the ensuing one hundred eigtheen years, it has built on its heritage, preserving its classic coats, jackets, and duffle and travel bags. Recently, however, Filson has introduced small leather goods and in 2015 launched a watch collection.

Privet Lives is located at 13 East Shore Road New Preston. It is open Wednesday through Monday, 11AM to 5:30PM. Phone 860-868-1800.
