Great Mountain Forest

It may not feel exactly like Spring but the inclement weather shouldn’t keep you indoors.

Great Mountain Forest has hiking trails for any weather condition: snowshoeing and cross country skiing in cold weather, beautiful hiking trails in warmer weather. There are also many beautiful bodies of water.

Nestled on 6,000 bucolic acres in the beautiful hills of Litchfield County in Norfolk and Falls Village, Great Mountain is a working forest dedicated to teaching sustainable nature management.

Access for hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing is always open and free to the public. Fishing, boating and cabin use is by permission.

As the weather gets warmer, there will be a multitude of guided hikes, lectures and events for children.
