Community Table

There are lots of good restaurants in the Berkshire area, there are even several great ones. However, if you want a truly amazing meal, Community Table in Washington, CT is the ultimate destination. The elegant yet casual atmosphere and balance of creative and comforting cuisine is what makes Community Table this week’s favorite thing.

The modern décor is warm and welcoming with great attention to detail. All works seamlessly together and the small touches are beyond expectation, including sheep skins to keep diners cozy in the chilly months. The service is top notch, possibly the best in the area. The staff is attentive, friendly and professional. They make you feel at home.

The food remains the true star. The ever-changing menu is, “committed to offering locally grown, cruelty free, environmentally conscious foods, from farms that do not use pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, insecticides or GMO’s.”

The offerings are a perfect blend of unique, creative dishes and familiar comfort food. Appetizers such as sea urchin and hogshead terrine offer an opportunity to try something new. There are more traditional choices, a generous kale salad or cheese plate for the less adventurous diners.

The entrees are beautiful renditions of country comfort food. The smoked heritage pig is perfectly cooked, it falls apart on your fork; the flavors, subtle and delicate, allow the flavor of the meat to shine. Other choices included seafood, pasta Bolognese and venison.
